In a string of recent exhibitions around the world that have seen street artists work brought inside, Brick Lane gallery Stolenspace has taken artist ROA off the streets to create one very unique onsite installation.
Even if you’re not aware of ROA, you’ll definitely have seen some of his work if you’ve ever had a walk around Shoreditch or Brick Lane. His sky high, large scale hand painted urban animals cannot be missed.
The question on our minds was where has his fasination with these usually fear inducing rodents come from? Laid before our eyes in partly skeletal and occasionally categorically gruesome forms, ROA aims to highlight the insanity of our attitude towards animals by juxtaposing nature amongst the city streets.
The exhibition itself utilises the relatively small space of the gallery expertly, using cleverly positioned salvaged doors and abandoned objects as canvases. Sporadically placed mirrors throughout not only create perfectly symmetrical pieces but also heighten the experiential, interactive element of this must see installation.
The Exhibition runs until July 4th.
