Bread & Butter tradeshow announces move to Barcelona
Last week saw the fashion industry once again descend on Berlin for what has become an increasingly packed week of shows, events and timely pop-ups. That is however, until Bread and Butter announced their plans to return to Barcelona for next Januarys winter addition, after 6 years at Berlin’s Templehof. Additionally, the tradeshow is venturing east with a new show based in Seoul, debuting in September this year.
Following Denim by Premiere Vision’s move to the Spanish city earlier this year, it’s clear that Fira de Barcelona is building up to once again become a hotspot for European fashion and tradeshows.
Most importantly for the tradeshow, B&B is removing itself from what has become an increasingly competitive week in Berlin. Over recent seasons we’ve seen giants such as Diesel, Adidas and Converse move to younger shows such as Premium, Seek or Bright. This was even before the organisers announced earlier this year that the July show would be open to the public, which of course was not the case in the end, presumably following a spate of brands withdrawing to exhibit at alternative shows.
Not surprisingly then, there was a general consensus amongst other visitors and exhibitors that B&B has lost it’s buzz. This season there was a gaping hole left by cool young brands such as Samsøe & Samsøe and Hype, while more established brands trying to refresh their image had also migrated to Premium, Seek or Bright.
